PM Inaugurates Package 1 of CPEC Western Route
Rawalpindi, 17 May, 2016: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif performed groundbreaking of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor’s (CPEC) Western Route Package 1 at an impressive ceremony arranged by National Logistics Cell (NLC) at Dera Ismail Khan on Tuesday. The project has been awarded to NLC in open bidding.
On arrival at the venue, the Prime Minister was received by Director General NLC, Major General Mushtaq Ahmed Faisal, officials of National Highway Authority and civil administer ation. The Prime Minister unveiled the plaque to formally inaugurate work on the project. DG NLC briefed the Prime Minister on projects completed by the organization in the country in general and Punjab in particular. He assured the PM of timely completion of the Package 1 as per international standards.
The 55 kilometers long road from Yarak to Rehmani Khel is part of Hakla – D. I. Khan motorway project which is scheduled to be completed by NLC in two years. The project also includes 4 underpasses, 2 bridges, 1 interchange and 44 culverts.
