PM inaugurates 174 kilometers Sibbi – Kohlu Road constructed by NLC
Rawalpindi, 1 Sep, 2016: Prime Minister of Pakistan Muhammad Nawaz Sharif inaugurated 174 kilometer long Sibbi – Kohlu road constructed by National Logistics Cell on Thursday.
The Prime Minister was accompanied Mr. Ahsan Iqbal, Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reforms, Lt Gen (Retd) Nasser Khan Janjua, Prime Minister’s National Security Advisor, Nawab Sanaullah Khan Zahri, Chief Minister, Muhammad Khan Achakzai, Governor Balochistan, Lt Gen Aamer Riaz, Commander Southern Command and other senior officials.
Director General NLC, Maj Gen Muhstaq Ahmed Faisal briefed the Prime Minister about salient features and significance of the project. He informed that the road is the first direct communication link between Sibbi and Kohlu districts that has reduced the distance between the two districts of Balochistan by more than 400 kilometers. Prior to the road, locals had either to go via Loralai or DG Khan covering a distance of over 600 kilometers to reach Sibbi from Kohlu and vice versa. He said that besides bringing remote areas into national mainstream, the project will boost socio-economic activities in the area, provide easy access to the locals to basic amenities of life, easy farm to market access, improve civil administration control and other numerous benefits.
Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister said that the goal of progress could not be achieved without infrastructure development and that is why roads construction is his government’s top priority. He congratulated the NLC team for completing the project and lauded the sacrifices made by the security personnel and the people of Balochistan for national development.
The Prime Minister unveiled the plaque to formally inaugurate the road project.
