32 Assistant Loco Drivers complete training

Rawalpindi, 15 November 2017: As many as 32 Assistant Locomotive Drivers enlisted by National Logistics Cell (NLC) for its locomotives successfully completed 10 months training at the prestigious Pakistan Railways Academy, Lahore.      The NLC owned locomotives are being run by Pakistan Railways for its freight operation on 12 years lease agreement.

Director General NLC Major General Mushtaq Ahmed Faisal who was Chief Guest on the occasion gave away certificates to the assistant locomotive drivers. Director General Pakistan Railways Academy (PRA) Mr. Saeed Khan and other senior officials of PR and NLC were present on the occasion.

Addressing the ceremony, DG NLC highlighted the cordial working relationship between the two national organizations. He said that not only the locomotive lease deal between NLC and PR was progressing smoothly but NLC Engineers were also working on a number of infrastructure rehabilitation projects including restoration of Sibbi-Harnai-Khost Section in Balochistan, doubling/improvement of existing track from Port Qasim to Bin Qasim Station and construction of various railways stations in Punjab. He said that there were tremendous opportunities of mutual cooperation between the two organizations wherein rail and road modes would reinforce each other to develop a formidable and robust logistics system in the country.

He stressed upon newly trained assistant loco drivers to work hard as it was the singular key to success in any field. “You have been trained for a highly sensitive job as not only safety of engine but security of passengers depends on the quality of your judgment.  I am confident that you will follow PR’s golden motto of ‘Safety First’ after entering into the practical phase of your life”, he added.

Major General Mushtaq Ahmed Faisal congratulated loco drivers on successful completion of course and commended role of Academy faculty for imparting high quality training to them.

Earlier, DG PRA gave detailed overview of the Academy’s performance and its role in training quality human resource for the institution. He also informed about future plans regarding modernization of railways training system employing latest computer technologies in the context of CPEC.
